Accounting Clerk: Expenditure Control

About the role

The Department of Correctional Services is hiring an Accounting Clerk: Expenditure Control in Financial Accounting, based in National Head Office. This is a permanent post, paying R237,453 a year. Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects by ensuring correctness and timeous payments of suppliers and financial procedures with regard to capturing of face value documents.
• Exercise control over BAS input documents.
• Assist with clearing interresponsibility accounts.
• General office administration.
• The incumbent will liaise with the relevant bodies/sections in the execution of his/her tasks.
• Execute the responsibilities of official as stipulated in Section 45 of the Public Finance Management Act.
• Management of assets.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• No experience required.
• Previous experience in finance environment will be an added advantage.
• Computer literate.
• Competencies And Attributes:
• Financial policy regarding claims, expenditure, advances, payments, invoices, etc. Knowledge of the uniform filing system
• Knowledge of memoranda, fax and letter format
• Good written and verbal communication skills
