Linen Stores Assistant

About the role

The Department of Health and Wellness (Western Cape) is hiring a Linen Stores Assistant, based in Swartland Hospital, Swartland Sub-district. This is a permanent post, paying R144,024 a year. Responsibilities

• Collect/deliver either soiled/clean linen with a trolley from and to wards.
• Empty linen bags, sorting, counting, and cleaning area.
• Load/off load linen bags on and off truck and pack shelves in linen bank as well as packaging of linen for despatching.
• Render a support service to supervisor/laundry component.
• Assist with relief driver duties when necessary.
• Wash, dry and iron small quantities of linen, clothing, and other textiles.

Requirements

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience: Appropriate experience.
• Inherent requirements of the job:
• Valid (Code B) driver’s license
• Ability to do physical hard work and stand for long hours
• Competencies (knowledge/skills):
• Good interpersonal relations with supervisor, colleagues, and the public
• Ability to function in a group
• Ability to read and write
• Ability to sort and count linen
• Knowledge of using washing machines/tumble dryers
