About the role
The Department of Health and Wellness (Western Cape) is hiring a Chief Oral Hygienist Grade 1 in Metro Health Services, based in Oral Health Centre, Tygerberg/Mitchell’s Plain Platform. Responsibilities
- (key result areas/outputs): Provide comprehensive oral hygiene assessment, diagnosis, preventive and therapeutic treatment within the Scope of Practice.
- Deliver oral health promotion and disease prevention programmes.
- Participate in community-based oral health services and outreach initiatives.
- Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate theoretical, clinical and community-based teaching.
- Provide effective clinical supervision and mentorship.
- Conduct and contribute to clinical, public health and oral health research.
- Contribute to effective departmental, faculty and institutional leadership and governance.
- Coordinate designated academic, clinical and administrative responsibilities.
Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Oral Hygienist.
- Registration with a professional council: Registration with the HPCSA as an Oral Hygienist.
- Inherent requirements of the job: Valid driver’s license (Code B/EB).
- Experience: At least 3 years appropriate experience in the relevant profession after registration with the HPCSA as an Oral Hygienist.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills):
- Good Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Good interpersonal skills and perform effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
