The Department of Health (KwaZulu-Natal) is hiring a Professional Nurse (General Nursing) (Grade 1-3), based in MADADENI HOSPITAL. This is a permanent post, paying R337,359 – R397,392. Responsibilities

• To execute duties and functions with proficiency within prescripts of applicable legislation.
• Perform a clinical nursing practice in accordance with the scope of practice, nursing standards, service delivery needs as determined by the relevant health facility.
• Assist Operational Manager with overall management and necessary support for effective functioning.
• To provide nursing care that lends itself to improve service delivery by upholding nursing standards, National Core Standards and Batho Pele principles.
• Maintain clinical competence by ensuring that scientific principles of nursing are implemented.
• Supervision of patient records to ensure accurate and complete patient records.
• Ensure supervision and provision of basic needs viz oxygen, nutrition, elimination, fluids and electrolyte balance, safe and therapeutic environment.
• Ensure clinical interventions to clients including administering of prescribed medication and ongoing observation of patients.
• Ensure proper utilization of human, material and financial resources and maintain update records of resources.

Requirements

• ● Basic R425 degree \ diploma in General Nursing
• Registration with SANC as a General Nurse
• Proof of current year registration with SANC (2026 Receipt)
• Grade 2 A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a professional nurse with S.A.N.C in General Nursing.
• Grade 3 A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a professional nurse with S.A.N.C in General Nursing.
• Certificate of Service from previous and current employer endorsed and stamped by HR must be attached.
• ● Verifiable Work Experience in Nephrology.
• Demonstrate an understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices.
• Sound knowledge and skills in peritoneal and hemodialysis procedures and relevant nursing care of patients undergoing such procedures.
• Demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisors and clinicians including report writing when required.
• Knowledge of service standards, patients’ right charter, Batho Pele, National Core Standard.
• Work effectively, co-operatively amicably with persons of diverse intellectual, cultural, racial or religious differences, good report writing skills and sound knowledge on data management.
• Able to plan and organize own work and that of support personnel to ensure proper nursing care.
• Display a concern for patients promoting and advocating proper treatment and care including awareness and willingness to respond to patients’ needs requirements and expectations.
