The Department of Health (KwaZulu-Natal) is hiring a Professional Nurse (Speciality) Theatre, based in Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Memorial Hospital. This is a permanent post, paying R495,423. Responsibilities

• E Effective management of patients, display a concern for patients, promoting and advocating e Proper treatment and care including awareness and willingness to respond to patient's needs, requirements and expectations. e Provision of quality services through setting of standards, policies and procedures. e Participate in the implementation of National Priorities clinical guidelines, protocols. e Maintain accurate and complete patient records according to legal requirements. e Exercise control over discipline, grievance and labour relations issues. oy e Promote good working relationships amongst staff and patients.
• e Assist in supervision and development of all nursing staff
• Reduction of maternal and child 0 mortality and morbidity rate. e Ensure effective participation in all hospital programs e.g
• IPC, Quality Assurance, etc. e Provide a Safe, therapeutic and hygienic environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Requirements

• E Senior Certificate or equivalent e Degree/Diploma in General nursing. e Arelevant one (01) year Post Basic qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing Science. e Registration certificate with South African Nursing Council (SANC). e Current SANC receipt (2026). e Aminimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. e Proof of current/previous work experience endorsed and stamped by Human Resource Department.
• E Successful candidate will have to spend minimum of one year in service
• GRADE 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing
• GRADE 2: A minimum of 14 (fourteen) years appropriate/ recognizable experience in Nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing of which at least 10 (ten) years must be appropriate/recognizable experience in the speciality after obtaining the 1 (one) year post basic qualification in relevant speciality
• E Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statutes, and other relevant legal framework. e Good communication skills-verbal and written e Co-ordination and liaison skills
• e Problem solving skills and critical thinking skills e Ability to work within the multidisciplinary team e Maintain Professional growth/ethical standard and self-development. e Assist in reduction of complaints within the directorate
